European butadiene prices were assessed at $1,470/mt FOB R’dam, up $20/mt compared with last week’s price level of $1,450/mt. Spot prices continued to be supported by a combination of firm export demand to the US and tight supply. Although sources reported no spot trades this week, sources reported notional levels at around the $1,450/ mt FOB level. Inland prices were assessed unchanged at Eur1,131/mt FD NWE. However, with the US assessed at 78 cents/lb, or $1,719/mt FOB, and given freight of approximately $235/mt, sources agreed that breakeven cost levels from exporting would be around $1,484/mt FOB.
