Lagos-The Nigerian government has filed charges against a number of oil companies operating in the country seeking to recover $12 billion it claims it has lost to undeclared crude and gas liftings from export terminals between 2011 and 2014, the local This Day newspaper reported Tuesday. It did not name the accused companies. Citing court papers filed by government lawyers, the report said the government is claiming over 57 million barrels of Nigerian crude oil was illegally exported and sold to buyers in the United States alone from January 2011 to December 2014.
