Shell production unphased by Niger Delta blockade

Lagos-Shell’s Nigerian production wing said Tuesday there had been no disruption yet to oil and gas production from a three-week blockade of extension project sites at its 200,000 b/d Gbaran/Ubie field in the Niger Delta, with talks ongoing to resolve a dispute with a local community. “The Bayelsa state government is lead- ing discussions with the Koroama communi- ty to end the blockade of Shell project sites in the area. The community commenced the blockade about three weeks ago to press their demand for free and uninterrupted power supply to the community from Shell’s gas plant in the area,” a Shell spokesman told Platts.
