London-Vivergo, a joint venture of Associat- ed British Foods, BP and Dupont, has officially opened its GBP350 million ($520 million) bioethanol refinery in northeast England, the UK's biggest by nameplate capacity and one of the largest in Europe. The Vivergo plant, with a capacity to pro- duce 420 million liters/year of ethanol, start- ed operating late last year, but the consortium said then that no material would be produced at the facility until early 2013.
