Kazakhstan’s Kashagan field shuts on gas leak

Moscow—Kazakhstan’s giant Kashagan field in the Caspian Sea halted production on Thursday, just 15 days since it began producing, due to a leak in the pipeline that carries gas from the production facilities to the onshore treatment plant. The shut-in is a major setback for the project, which has been plagued by technical problems and delays, and only started production on September 11.
