Thailand, Cambodia revive maritime talks to aid E&P

Bangkok-Thailand and Cambodia last week renewed talks over the overlapping claims area, a 26,000 sq km area in the Gulf of Thai- land, in an earnest bid to jointly exploit poten- tially rich natural gas reserves lying there. The move followed a meeting December 29 in Phnom Penh between Thai Energy Minis- ter Pichai Naripthaphan and Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sok An, who is also chairman of the Cambodia National Petroleum Authority. The two sides agreed to proceed with the processes required to overcome differences pertaining to the OCA, which is believed to hold around 10 Tcf of gas as well as some crude and condensate.
