Statoil to expand Barents exploration effort

Copenhagen—Norway’s Statoil said May 10 it was extending exploration efforts in the Barents Sea after making massive finds at the Skrugard and Havis prospects in PL532, which are estimated to contain a combined 400 million- 600 million barrels of recoverable oil. It has developed a plan for further exploration drilling in the Skrugard area with partners, Italy’s Eni and Norway’s Petoro, that will cover four new prospects and is scheduled to start in late 2012, Statoil said in a statement.
