Statoil to persevere with Barents Sea exploration undeterred by drilling flops

Statoil will continue exploration drilling in the Barents Sea and actively participate in any forthcoming new acreage licence rounds despite a disappointing summer campaign in the region. Speaking at the International Gas Union media day in London this week, Statoil's vice president of UK government and regulatory affairs Lars Sorensen said the company has no intention of changing how it allocates its exploration resources and remains optimistic of a "major discovery".
