Green groups push regulation of energy wastewater

Washington—Fracking has been exempted from many of the requirements of the Clean Water Act, but environmental groups want Congress to repeal that to better protect drinking water supplies and watersheds. Beyond fracking, the environmental groups said Congress and federal agencies need to broaden their consideration of water issues when passing laws, promulgating regulations or offering incentives for water development.
