Bangladesh ready for talkson boundary with India

Dhaka—Bangladesh is open to holdingbilateral talks on its maritime boundarydispute with India in the Bay of Bengal, butwould not withdraw the lawsuit filed in theinternational court, Foreign Minister DipuMoni said March 20.Bangladesh is keen on a resolution ofthe dispute as it hinders its explorationplans for oil and gas in the Bay of Bengal.“The door is open for discussion withIndia on the maritime boundary disputebut there is no scope for withdrawal ofthe case lodged with the internationalarbitration tribunal,” Moni told reportersin Dhaka. She added, however, that if theoutcome of the talks satisfied Bangladesh,it could withdraw the lawsuit.
