Riga, Latvia—A conflict between Lithuania’s main oil transit company and Belarus-based oil exporters is threatening the Lithuanian economy by disrupting transit of products through the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda. The Belarus Oil Company (BNK) in Minsk has threatened to shift transport of its oil product export volumes away from Lithuania to ports in Latvia or Ukraine after Lithuania’s state-owned Klaipedos Nafta refused to renew a contract with Transkhema, an oil trading company linked to BNK.
