Kuala Lumpur—French major Total is “days or weeks” from finalizing a deal with Japan’s Inpex to raise its stake in the $34 billion Ichthys LNG project in Australia from the current 24%, CEO Christophe de Margerie said June 8. “Officially it’s not yet finalized...but the agreement in principle exists,” de Margerie told a press conference at the World Gas Conference in Kuala Lumpur, without providing further details.
