Washington—The US Environmental Protec-tion Agency’s first-ever greenhouse gasemissions standard for future fossil fuel-firedpower plants is “firmly in line” with what thepower industry is already doing—investingin natural gas for power instead of planningto build new coal plants—Administrator LisaJackson said as she announced the pro-posed rule March 27.The proposal “builds on where industryis going and locks that trend in,” sendinga “strong signal” to investors and utilities,she said.
