U.S. EPA Unveils CO2 Rule for New Power Plants

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on March27 unveiled its first-ever carbon dioxide (CO2) proposed rulefor future power plants, including integrated gasificationcombined cycle (IGCC) plants.The new proposed rule follows a 2007 U.S. Supreme Courtruling, EPA said.The proposed rule includes an “output-based standard of1,000 pounds of CO2 per megawatt-hour gross,” accordingto the agency.
