India’s LNG imports fall to 1.18 million mt in August

Singapore—India imported around 1.18 million mt of LNG on a spot and term basis in August, a drop from the 1.28 million mt imported in July, as spot shipments at Shell’s Hazira terminal dropped significantly, a Platts analysis of shipping fixtures showed September 25. Nonetheless, compared with the same month a year ago, August imports were 12.7% higher, Platts records show. India’s cumulative LNG imports in the first eight months of the year, at 9.33 million mt, were up a little over 15% compared with January-August 2011.
