Ukraine begins gas output from two new fields

Kiev—Ukraine’s state-owned gas producers ChornomorNaftogaz and Naftogaz Ukrayiny September 5 started up two new major fields in the country as Kiev looks to reduce its reliance on gas imports from Russia and improve its energy security. The Odessa gas field in the Black Sea, operated by ChornomorNaftogaz, and Naftogaz’ onshore Runovshchynske field in the Poltava region are the two biggest gas fields to be put in operation in Ukraine in recent years.
