Ichthys signs up 3 more LNG buyers, approval near

Sydney-The partners in the Ichthys LNG project in northern Australia are expected to give the go-ahead for the start of construction within days after January 10 converting pre- liminary agreements with their remaining three customers into binding long-term sales and purchase contracts. The contracts convert heads of agree- ment signed previously by the Inpex-led Ichthys project with Taiwan-based CPC Corpo- ration and Japan's Chubu Electric and Toho Gas. The agreements run for 15 years from 2017, and cover the sale of 1.75 million mt/ year to CPC, 490,000 mt/year to Chubu Elec- tric and 280,000 mt/year to Toho Gas.
