Tokyo—The new Japanese cabinet may submit a bill to parliament to guarantee insurance cover of $7.6 billion for tankers transporting Iranian crude oil to make up for the potential loss of protection and indemnity cover when EU sanctions come into effect in July, a government source told Platts June 4. Although no final decision has been made, the cabinet may now be in a position to move following a ministerial reshuffle, the source said.
