Washington-A Canadian farm couple touched off a flurry of trepidation over carbon sequestration and enhanced oil recovery last week, charging that a project near their property is leaking carbon dioxide, killing animals and causing groundwater to fizz. But an engineer with the US Energy Department said carbon injection remains safe and tightly regulated, adding that DOE has no plans to stop studying and funding the technology.
