Singapore-China is finalizing the regulations on participation by foreign companies in coalbed methane exploration in the country, with the National Energy Administration expected to approve the rules by the end of the year, China Daily reported November 4. The rules will include pre-qualifying foreign companies as well as other pre-requisites like a minimum level of annual exploration areas and investments, the report said, citing a source from the team drafting the rules. "It is important that entry requirements for foreign energy companies' participation in the CBM sector rise," the report quoted Sun Maoyuan, a member of the National Energy Expert Consulting Committee, as saying.
