Sumed may reverse one Red Sea crude pipeline

London-Egypt-led pipeline operator Sumed is considering reversing the flow of one of its pipelines to carry crude oil from Sidi Kerir on the Mediterranean to Ain Sukhna on the Red Sea to replace the current flow from Ain Sukhna to Sidi Kerir, trading sources said this week. Sumed operates twin pipelines, each with a capacity of 1.2 million b/d, which are currently mainly used to enable Persian Gulf crude to get to the Mediterranean without passing through the Suez Canal.
