Lagos-Nigerian police have filed charges against KBR CEO William Utt over his alleged involvement in the payment of $132 million in bribes for the award of contracts for the con- struction of the Bonny LNG plant. In the charge sheet made available Decem- ber 8 by Nigeria's Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Utt was charged along with former US Vice President Dick Cheney and six others said to have conspired in offering $132 million to Nigerian government officials in the award of the contract for the NLNG project between 1995 and 2004. KBR has denied any involvement by Utt, and a lawyer for Cheney also has dismissed any allegations that he was involved as "entirely baseless."
