Alaska has setback in Point Thomson gas case

Anchorage-An Alaska judge has dealt the state a setback in a long-running dispute with ExxonMobil over lease work obligations at Point Thomson, a large gas and condensate field 60 miles east of Prudhoe Bay on the North Slope. In a ruling issued late January 11, Alaska Superior Court Judge Sharon Gleason reversed state Resources Commissioner Tom Irwin's decision last year to terminate the Point Thomson Unit and subsequently cancel state oil and gas leases held by ExxonMobil and its partners BP, Chevron and ConocoPhillips.
