UK's Afren buoyed by good result at Nigeria well

London-UK-listed Afren has exceeded its predrill estimates with the latest appraisal well at its Ebok field offshore Nigeria, hitting a total of 107 feet of gross oil pay at the field's southern lobe, Afren said January 12. The Ebok-6 well adds some 23 million barrels of recoverable oil from this part of the reservoir compared to pre-drill guidance of 8 million barrels, the company said. Gross recoverable resources across the Ebok field are now estimated at 116 million barrels.
