London-Russian natural gas producer Novatek February 16 joined its larger compatriot Gazprom in dampening the prospect of shale gas in western Europe impacting on conventional gas production projects in Russia.Novatek CFO Mark Gyetvay told an IP week forum in London that potential European shale gas projects would not be able to compete with conventional gas projects in Russia on the basis of economics.
