Iraqi PM approves $200 million oil acceleration plan

Amman, Jordan-Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, bolstered by a good showing in recent provisional elections, has endorsed a plan to increase crude oil production using the country's own resources as recommended in proposals by a committee headed by the deputy prime minister.The semi-official newspaper al-Sabah said in a report posted on its web site February 14 that Maliki approved the plan following a two-day meeting with senior oil advisers and officials, instructing them to prepare plans to enhance the capabilities of the oil sector and extraction operations.
