Long-time official nominated to head EPA

President Bush Mar 4 nominated Stephen Johnson,a long-time government employee and acting administrator of the US Environmental Protection Agency,to head the agency.Johnson,a scientist with degrees in biology and pathology,has been with EPA for 24 years,covering a major portion of the agency's existence.EPA was established in 1970.Johnson worked primarily in the area of toxic substances and pesticides.
