Troubled Refco in talks to sell futures brokerage units

Scandal-scarred US modities broker Refco said Oct 17 it was in "advanced negotiations" with a group of investors led by private equity firm JC Flowers & Co to sell Refco's futures brokerage units,including Refco LLC,Refco Overseas Ltd,and Refco Singapore Re Ltd.Flowers,formed in 2000 by former Goldman Sachs investment banker Christopher Flowers,specializes in buying troubled companies.
