China cuts petroleum imports as stocks swell

Hong Kong-China's appetite for petroleum imports in August waned as oil products stocks rose amid lackluster sales in the previ ous month. Preliminary figures released September 11 by the Chinese General Administration of Customs showed that China cut its net crude and products imports to 18.24 million mt in August, 2.61 million mt or 12.5% less than 20.85 million mt seen in July.
