More than just a great read

Dr Lee has a gem of a book in development. I was lucky enough to be privy to a penultimate draft. The book is a tour de force, with the working title of Eugene Braunwald and the Emergence of Modern Medicine (by Thomas Henry Lee, MD). It spans the spectrum from the biographical consideration of Dr Braunwald's professional life to the transformative evolution bf modern cardiology, to which he contributed so much. It begins with a riveting preface that conveys a visceral insight into the heinous cruelty of Nazi terror seen through the eyes of an 8-year-old Eugene Braunwald. It tells Gene's story, but also much more. An extrapolation of even just a few highlights of Gene's career described so eloquently in Dr Lee's book emphasizes how pivotal Dr Braunwald has been in the development of modern cardiology.
