Rocketing corn and crude prices sent spot ethanol prices skyward Wednesday by at least 10 cents/gal in most US markets, market sources said. Corn futures on the Chicago Board of Trade closed in record territory for the third day in a row Wednesday, finishing above 7/bushel for the first time for the front-month contract, driven by crop concerns from heavy Midwest rains as well as expectations of resulting lower corn production.
