EIA reports 85 Bcf build in US gas storage

Knoxville, Tennessee—US natural gas storage inventories climbed 85 Bcf during the week ended May 16, raising nationwide stocks to 1.614 Tcf, the Energy Information Administration said May 22. In the same week of last year, EIA reported 1.916 Tcf in storage. As a result, the deficit from a year ago expanded to 302 Bcf from 286 Bcf a week earlier, while the 3 Bcf surplus from the five-year average flipped to a 3 Bcf deficit.
