Japan to propose joint stockpile plan with neighbors

Tokyo/Singapore-Japan aims to propose joint strategic hydrocarbon stockpiles with other Asian countries as early as 2010,a Ministry of Economy,Trade and Industry official said April 13.The stockpiles could include a combination of crude,products and natural gas."We intend to start discussing [the proposal] with Asian countries such as South Korea,China and members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations after we have a report on it in the first half of June 2006,"the official said,referring to a report being prepared by an advisory board at METI's Natural Resources and Energy Agency.
