Shell declares force majeure on Nigerian oil;extinguishes blaze

Paris/Abuja-Royal Dutch Shell said late Dec 22 the fire that ravaged a crude pipeline in the Opobo Channel in Nigeria's southern delta earlier this week has been extinguished,and loading facilities at the Bonny export terminal,which is fed by that pipeline,are ready to receive crude(OPR 12/22).However,Shell also said the force majeure declared on crude liftings from the Bonny terminal,remains in place.Force majeure is a warning to customers that suppliers might not be able to meet delivery commitments because of events beyond their control.
