Refco files for bankruptcy;to sell futures arm to Flowers

Troubled US-based borkerage Refco said Oct 18 it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after agreeing to sell it futures brokerage business and other assets to a group of investors led by private equity firm JC flowers & Co.Refco said it signed a memorandum of understanding for its futures brokerage business conducted through Refco LLC,Refco Overseas.
