Foil market starts 2016 on a better footing

The foil market has started 2016 on a better footing. Aluminum Association (AA) data for USA and Canada showed that producer shipments of foil rose in January by 4% y-o-y to reach 33,424 tonnes. This was boosted by a 10% y-o-y increase in shipments to the packaging sector. For sure, this should be placed in the context of a very weak start to 2015, but it also indicates that imports are having a less detrimental impact on production relative to the same time last year.
