Beijing—China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has increased the standards for new petrochemical projects to improved the efficiency of the industry and address public opposition to potential hazards, according to Reuters. A petrochemical industry plan published on NDRC's website calls for new ethylene plants to have a minimum capacity of 1-million t/y, while paraxylene and diphenyl-methane diisocyanate units should be designed to produce at least 600,000 t/y and 400,000 t/y, respectively.
