BASF Exits Cargill, Novozymes Project To Commercialize Bio-Acrylic Acid

Ludwisshafen— BASF has decided to discontinue the research and development partnership with Cargill and Novozymes to develop technologies to produce 3-hydroxypropionic acid (3-HP) and acrylic acid from renewable raw materials (PCN, 22 Sept 2014, p 3). The partners have already demonstrated the successful conversion of 3-HP to glacial acrylic acid and superabsor-bent polymers and have selected the process for further scale-up.
