The firearm projective has a tailpiece to give a stream-lining effect, and also two pads. The rearmost pad (5) fits round the tailpiece (7), which is cylindrical for msot of its length, and can be arranged to enclose the streamlined rear part of the explosive charge. The rearmost pad can be accommodated in the firing chamber of the firearm, and the chamber can have a support for the projectile, functioning until the rear and has left the chamber and is in contact with the barrel rifling. This support can fit round the projectile rear end, being of plastic and with a number of grooves to deflect the combustion gases.
