Solvay/Ineos Submit Revised Package To Be Market Tested by Commission

Brussels—Solvay and Ineos, to further address European Commission (EC) competition concerns related to their proposed chlorvinyls joint venture, have proposed a new remedy package, which will be test marketed by the EC (PCN, 3 Mar 2014, p 1). A package put forward by the two companies on 27 Feb. involved asset divestments including the Schkopau, Germany; Beek, the Netherlands, and Mazingarbe, France, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plants, all operated by Ineos, as well as the chlor-alkali, ethylene dichloride (EDC) and vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) assets in Tessenderlo, Belgium, also operated by Ineos.
