Republicans Closely Watch Review of Fuel Economy Standards

Three US House representatives are asking federal regulators for further clarity as automakers and agencies begin to revisit standards aimed at doubling fuel economy and curbing vehicle emissions. Fleetwide carbon-control rules debuted in 2012 under the Obama administration. By early 2018, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) must decide whether to tighten, loosen or keep intact the tail-end of the standards, covering 2022 to 2025 (OD Jan.12'16).
