A group of seven Central and Eastern European countries have appealed to the US Senate majority leader to loosen legal hurdles preventing exports of US LNG to the region and help reduce its dependence on Russia's Gazprom for gas. In a letter to Republican Senator Mitch McConnell dated Nov. 14 and seen by Oil Daily, ambassadors to the US from the seven countries -- Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia -- argue that US LNG supplies to Europe would "provide diversity of sources" to the region.
