Devon Energy reported strong year - over - year growth in its oil production during the third quarter of this year, but it says growth will slow next year as it embarks on a further round of capital spending cuts prompted by the slump in oil and gas prices. The company's overall third - quarter production came in at 680,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day -- up about 6% on the same period of last year. However, oil production rose 31% year - on - year to 282,000 barrels per day.
