Royal Dutch Shell announced Wednesday that it will sell a 23% stake in the Parque das Conchas project, also known as BC-10, offshore Brazil to Qatar Petroleum International (QPI) for $1 billion as it looks to continue its divestment program and bring in much needed capital discipline. The market is expecting Shell to divest more than $15 billion in asset sales over the next two years as it looks to appease investors after issuing a profit warning earlier this month (OD Jan.20'14). Shell has already exited the Wheatstone LNG plant in Australia in a $1.14 billion deal with Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Co., and reports suggest that the Anglo-Dutch firm is looking to sell a stake in the Ho-Ho pipeline in North America which could net the company a further $1 billion.
