W&T Offshore Bumps Up Wolfcamp Shale Drilling

W&T Offshore plans a modest increase in its drilling activity in the horizontal Wolfcamp Shale oil play in the Permian Basin of West Texas next year after encouraging results in the fourth quarter. The Houston-based producer -- which is primarily focused on the Gulf of Mexico -- brought two horizontal exploration wells on line in the Wolfcamp Shale last year with average 24-hour initial production (IP) rates of 346 barrels of oil equivalent per day and 485 boe/d.
