Russia becomes second largest diamond producer in volume terms in 2011

Global diamond production in value terms grew 26% to $14,406 billion in 2011, according to Kimberley Process materials published on its website. Total global diamond production edged up 3% last year to 123.99 million carats. The average cost of diamonds produced last year jumped 31% to $116.19 per carat.
