Mechel US GAAP net profit down 30% to $218 mln in Q1, above forecast

OJSC Mechel saw its net profit to US GAAP fall 29.5% year-on-year to $218 million in the first quarter of 2012, the company said on June 20. The company's sales revenue increased by 0.5% to $2.95 billion while earnings before taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) decreased by 18.2% to $463 million.
