Thanks to Shale, U.S. Tops Saudi Arabia, Russia in Recoverable Oil Reserves, Says Rystad

The United States now holds more recoverable oil reserves than Saudi Arabia and Russia, thanks to the unconventional revolution, according to a three-year global review by Rystad Energy. Including potential reserves in recent discoveries and yet-to-be unearthed fields, U.S. reserves total 264 billion bbl, compared to 256 bbl in Russia and 212 billion bbl in Saudi Arabia. Texas alone holds more than 60 billion bbl of shale oil, the Norwegian- based consultancy said Monday.
