Impact of the presence of parents on cardiopulmonary resuscitation and invasive procedures.

In a recent study, Fernandez et al evaluated the impact of the presence of a family member on medical performances during medical codes. The question of the presence of parents in the intensive care unit during general care and during medical codes in particular arises more and more often. In this domain, PICU often have more experience than adult intensive care units or emergency departments. In their study, the authors showed us that the presence, of family may negatively impact important procedural events during a resuscitation attempt, such as the time to first defibril-lation and the overall number of defibrillation shocks delivered.
