China's spot market prices advanced last week, helped by confirmation of at least one price rise from Baosteel. The country's largest steelmaker said its wire rod prices would go up by150-300 yuan pertonne for April production. Other price rises should be confirmed soon. In Shanghai, wire rod spot prices surged 50 yuan (20 dollars) to 3,830-3,930 yuan pertonne, and grade III rebar of 16-25mm diameter rose 50-60 yuan to 3,850-3,900 yuan.
